Intern With Us!

Zubaan's internship programme is looking for applicants again! If you're a bright, creative feminist looking to gain some experience in publishing, and are ready to throw your hat in the (circus) ring, take a look at the guidelines below and send in your application to applications@zubaanbooks.com by midnight on February 20, 2017.

We will get back to shortlisted candidates in the first week of March to set up interviews (in person or on Skype).

OUTREACH INTERNSHIPS  engage with Zubaan's titles in an online space, curating and creating online content, writing and designing for Zubaa;s social media channels, and developing outreach and marketing campaigns using the same. Outreach interns are involved in organising Zubaan events.

Special focus (pick one):

1. Researching ebook publishers and markets; developing a marketing plan for Zubaan’s ebooks
2. Young Zubaan (children’s and young adult titles)
3. Blog + newsletter

EDITORIAL INTERNSHIPS involve working with editors on manuscripts, some production coordination, reader’s reports and proofreading or basic copyediting training.

Special focus (pick one):

1. Academic books
2. Trade books (fiction and memoir)
3. Young Zubaan books

All internships are full-time and must be completed in-house at the Zubaan office (Shahpur Jat, New Delhi). Internship dates are decided based on the applicant's availability and the duration of an internship must be no less than eight weeks (and can be extended based on your and our preferences). Though internship positions are not paid ones, a small honorarium to cover local transport is available.

How to apply:

Please pick a type of internship and a focus. Include these details in the subject line of your application, for example: ‘Outreach (ebooks)’ or Editorial (trade)’, and submit your application via email to applications@zubaanbooks.com by February 20. Be sure to include:

  • Your contact details
  • Your CV in PDF form (please make sure to include relevant work experience/coursework); and
  • A 500-word covering letter telling us why you are applying to Zubaan and detailing your suitability for the type of internship and focus you’ve chosen.
  • Feel free to include plans and ideas; try to keep it to a couple of pages, and make sure you highlight the skills and unique focus you’d bring to the internship of your choice.

*Interviews are ongoing and selected applicants will be notified by March 27.
