Feminist YA Fiction FTW

We’re looking for original, innovative and fiercely feminist young adult novels to publish under our Young Zubaan imprint! Send us heady queer romances, own stories of Dalit, Bahujan and Adivasi teens, feminist sci-fi and fantasy tomes, trans and cis coming-of-age stories, brilliant girl detectives, tales of ass-kicking kids with disability, and all other permutations of feminist work for ages 14+.

We’re open to most genres; however, we will not consider stories without girls in primary/significant roles, or stories that underwrite patriarchal, colonial, misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic, casteist, classist or ableist outlooks, or support the narrative of the oppressor.

Submission guidelines

Use our submission form to send us three chapters and a synopsis of your previously unpublished novel. Make sure your sample is clean, pre-edited, double-spaced, and representative of the tone and quality of your work.

Review process

All manuscript submissions will be read by an editor within eight to twelve weeks of submission, but will not receive individual responses. Please do not call the office with queries about your submission as reviewers will not be available.
